In 1991, approximately 90% of babies in the United States were in disposable diapers. Diaper rash has increased from 7% in 1955 (before disposables) to 78% in 1991. Cotton's a breathable fabric and that means less diaper rash! No toxic chemicals are next to your baby's skin. Cotton allows your baby to feel the moisture against his or her skin which helps lead them to potty training earlier. Usually a year earlier.

Our 100% cotton diapers feel extra-soft against your baby’s delicate sensitive skin. The breath-ability of cotton allows air to circulate through the diaper, Not heating up your baby's bottom.

Another area of concern are the toxic chemicals present in most single use diapers. Nearly all single use diapers use sodium polyacrylate to absorb moisture. Sodium polyacrylate is the same sort of substance that was used in tampons in the mid 1980s. (Not ok for tampons but it is in our babies diapers). Some consumers notice clear beads of gel on their baby's bum area after a diaper change. This material is Sodium polyacrylate. Another serious concern is the risk of dioxin a byproduct of the paper bleaching process, may exist in disposables diapers. Dioxin in various forms has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, liver damage, and skin diseases.

Parents are under the impression just cause a diaper will hold and not leak, that its OK, IT'S NOT. Babies should be changed every 2 hours to keep bacteria away from their private parts regardless if its cloth or disposables diapers.

How does the Service work? We deliver fresh clean cotton diapers to your doorstep each week. Clean diapers are delivered in a waterproof bag that is used to line your diaper pail (a simple 13 gallon kitchen sized trash can with a sealable lid will do just fine). Simply toss the dirty diapers into the pail. No dunking or soaking necessary. On delivery day, put your dirties out for pick up. We will swing by and exchange them with a clean batch of diapers. It’s that simple.

Diaper Covers. Our 100% pure cotton diapers are super absorbent, however a waterproof barrier cover to wrap around the cloth diapers is necessary. They come in many different styles, shapes and sizes, and can be quite cute. Happy Baby Cloth Diaper Service recommends that you have 8 - 12  diaper covers. Sets of one-size diaper covers will generally fit from around 10 pounds all the way up through potty learning. For newborn babies, you will want newborn size covers. You can either purchase or rent a set of newborn covers. We ask that families maintain their own diaper covers (simply toss in with your regular laundry and line dry... NO fabric softener or fragrances please). Or you can rent covers from us. Diaper covers only need changed (& washed) when soiled. Generally you will go through 2-4 per day.

Your delivery will arrive at your home in a reusable, waterproof bag.  Inside the bag will be a week's worth of clean diapers as well as any accessories ordered (diaper covers etc.).  Bring the diapers inside unpack the clean diapers at your changing station. Use the reusable, waterproof bag to line the inside of your diaper pail. That way when you begin changing diapers you can just toss the dirty diapers back into our bag.
